It is normal to every pupil to have aspirations,in fact every child or should I say everyone of us when we were at school we had different dreams, goals we wanted to achieve however it's not everyone who accomplishes those goals then the big question is where did it all go wrong, because surely there is a point missed somehow.
Very few students in the black community do well with their studies in matric and actually take an initiative to further their studies. "There's always a difference between people who went to Private schools and those who went to Public schools, they have many facilities to explore and are exposed to a lot of information their schools have laboratories, sports facilities and computer centers as opposed to Public schools if I recall correctly in my school they only received computers 5 years after I had completed my matric" said Thabo from Katlehong sitting on the rock at the corner of Khumalo street with his friends. Would it had been different if such pupil were exposed to some of the things that children from the white schools are exposed to, then maybe you say parents of those children pay for that quality of education; but don't I at least have an equal right to a good quality of education independent of my family's financial state
Mpumelelo a former head boy and president of SRC "Student Representative Committee" in Dedangendlela Secondary School in Soweto said he always aspired to be a leader but sadly for him his parents did not have money to send him to Tertiary he had to wait for five years while his parents were saving R5000 to send him to college to learn to computer should he had been to a better school he would have learnt computer from school he further says that there was not enough information centres at the time as opposed to now, he then adds to say that when he found out about bursaries it was long after he had lost love for education yet he believes that should he had got the opportunity he would not be behind bars paying for his ignorance because when he gave up on education he started to be involved in criminal activities and he blames poor education for his misfortunes. Stones remains unturned and questions unanswered as to if our government is doing enough to make sure that other youth out there does not end up like Thabo nor Mpumelelo by ensuring equal quality education to all
