If you ever get a chance to do it over, do it right.

It is usually life's challenges that forces you to make the decisions in the long run that come back to haunt you, have you ever done something stupid and few years down the line you find yourself in a pit and thinking what were you thinking? welcome to the club.

One may argue, you cannot live your life looking back on what you've lost, because life is not meant to be travelled backwards, true!
It is simple for you to say that because you are not the one behind bars, sentenced to 25 years with shattered dreams. Yes their actions put them there, but what if they did not have a choice, hear me well i am not justifying their crime here but have you ever sat down and thought that perhaps if there was something or a way to do things differently they would have done it.

As im writing this i am sittting at the Modabi prison not even sure who i came to visit but im determined to speak to one of the prisoners just to gain a little insight. Then it hit me i recently heard one of the boys i went to school with was arrested for allegedly stabbing another boy at a street bash in Tembisa to death and luckily i still remembered his full names, I pretended to be his cousin and went in. I'm sitting waiting for him to appear all i hear is this person calling each prisoner's name that's visited " so and so besoek! and they appear dressed in overhauls some with both hand and feet chained. At last he shows up he sits down and starts telling me what got him there " One of my friends was invited to a Skhothane's party in Phomolong, and of course we tagged along, when we got there it was hip and happening everyone dressed to the nines and bitches throwing themselves at us, we got a spot under the tree and sat down, out of the blue this chick shows up and decided to throw a bitch fit because we are sitting where they were sitting with her firends, she had a cider in her hand that she spilled on my R1500. 00 carvella i got pissed stood up and gave her the clap of her life little did i know that the boyfriend was watching, him and the friends came to us and wanted to fight we apologised and left, amongst this guy's friends was another dude that lives opposite my house, so my friends and I were standing at the gate figuring where to next, then these three cars park infront of the house and 12 guys come out 4 of them with guns rushes us inside and the house and they pointing at me, saying it was i, I had to figure a way out of the house and quick, i had a knife in my back pocket, which i used to clear a way out and stabbed one guy in the process and fled. My intention was not to kill anyone i did not even think i stabbed him in a place that could kill him, he died instantly then for days i was in hiding till the police found me and as they say the rest is history"

As his telling me all of this, i cant help but think what i would have done if i found myself in a similar situation, would i have succeeded in solving the dispute quietly? I dont know, i cant say. Some situations are just unavoidable, Yes we always have a choice but when pressed to the corner by a situation it always seem like there's no choice. You can't un do what is already done some mistakes can cost you for ever but should you be fortunate enough to do it all over do it right it does not matter how many mistakes you've made as long as you learn from them and become a better YOU.
